Swayam Local Chapter
The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), a project funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), provides e-learning through online Web and Video courses in Engineering, Sciences, Technology, Management and Humanities. This is a joint initiative by seven IITs and IISc Bangalore. Other selected premier institutions also act as Associate Partner Institutions.
NPTEL is one of the national coordinators of the Ministry of HRD’s prestigious Study Webs of Active–Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM) programme. All courses offered by NPTEL are a part of SWAYAM.
From March 2014 onward, NPTEL started offering online certification courses. Every January and July, anywhere between 250-300 courses are offered online – free of cost – for anyone to enrol and learn from. The certification involves writing an exam that is proctored and conducted in 120+ cities across India. 1010 online certification courses have been completed as of date with 288+ courses currently open for enrolment at online courses.nptel.ac.in. Through an online portal, 4, 8, or 12-week online courses, typically on topics relevant to students in all years of higher education along with basic core courses in sciences and humanities with exposure to relevant tools and technologies, are being offered.
All courses offered by NPTEL can be attended free of cost. A fee of Rs.1000/- is to be paid for appearing for the examinations.

NPTEL Local Chapter
NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning) is a joint initiative of the IITs and IISc. NPTEL has been offering self-study courses across engineering, humanities and science streams for more than a decade. From March 2014 NPTEL has been offering online certification for its courses, the highlight being the certification exam through which the student gets an opportunity to earn a certificate from the IITs!
St. Aloysius College (Autonomous), Jabalpur has been established as a local chapter of NPTEL since 2021. Payments can also be made through the Local Chapter. Local chapter institutions will also have the access to hall tickets, results and certificates.
By preparing and appearing for the NPTEL online examinations conducted by various IITs, one student can develop the following soft skills.

- Technical knowledge in depth beyond the curriculum

- Computer knowledge for applying to any course or jobs
- Ability to read and follow instructions
- Improvement in listening, speaking and writing skills

- All registrants have to use their Gmail id while filling their profile.
- While filling the Profile, give ‘Yes ‘in Are you a part of an NPTEL local chapter? * and choose our college name correctly from the drop-down.

ACTIVITIES
Swayam Local Chapter has organized a one-week training program on “INTERVIEW READINESS SOFT SKILL” from 23-01-2023 to 29-01-2023. More than 100 Students registered in the training program and benefitted from the lectures and mock interviews conducted by experts from IIT Madras.
